NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware field hockey program, led by first-year head coach Rolf van de Kerkhof, is inviting area field hockey players of all ages to participate in one or all four of its upcoming Fall 2011 clinics in September.
The clinics, scheduled for Sept. 3, Sept. 11, Sept. 18, and Sept. 25, will all take place the same day as home University of Delaware contests at Rullo Stadium.
Each clinic will begin with a pre-game discussion and observation of the Blue Hens' pre-game warm-up with van de Kerkhof an hour prior to the competition. That will be followed by exciting, high-level NCAA Division I competition and will end with a hockey instruction session for participants run by the UD staff and team members after the game.
"We would like to invite you, your teammates, and your team for another quality development opportunity and more hockey fun with the Blue Hens at the University of Delaware," said van de Kerkhof.
The Sept. 3 clinic will take place as part of the Delaware vs. Duke game at 1 p.m. with warm-up at 12 noon and the clinic at 2:30-4:30 p.m. The Sept. 11 clinic will be part of the North Carolina vs. Lafayette neutral site game at 12 noon with warm-up at 11 a.m. and a goalkeeper-only clinic at 1:30-3:30 p.m.
The Sept. 18 clinic will be part of the Delaware vs. Appalachian State game at 12 noon with warm-up at 11 a.m. and the clinic set for 1:30-3:30 p.m. The final clinic, scheduled for Sept. 25, will be part of the Delaware vs. Wake Forest game at 1 p.m. with warm-up set for 12 noon and the clinic scheduled for 2:30-4:30 p.m.
