WILMINGTON, N.C. (May 10, 2011) - Nearly $1,200 was raised for the American Cancer Society on Sunday when the annual "Pink Game" was staged during UNCW's baseball game with Colonial Athletic Association rival Georgia State at Brooks Field.
The game featured Mrs. Sissy Bass, mother UNCW centerfielder Michael Bass, throwing out the first pitch and hot air balloon rides to raise funds for breast cancer research. In addition, the Seahawks donned pink jerseys that were auctioned off during the game to the highest bidders.
The special event wrapped up UNCW's efforts for breast cancer awareness this year. In partnership with Molly Maid, pink shirts were sold at men's soccer, women's soccer, volleyball, women's basketball, swimming and diving, softball and baseball games, totaling close to $2,000 donated to ACS.
