GRASONVILLE, Md. (March 25, 2011) - The Towson men's golf team kicked off the Fireline Towson Invitational with a junior clinic for 45 young boys and girls from the greater Grasonville area as well as participants in the Howard County First Tee program.

The youngsters were given instruction from both the Prospect Bay Professional staff as well as the Tiger men's golf team. The Maryland State Golf Association was also involved in a rules session with the youngsters. The event concluded with a session in which the Tiger golf team answered questions from the participants as to what it takes to be a NCAA Division 1 golfer.

"Our team had a great time working with the kids," said Tiger coach Brian Yaniger, "showing them technical skills as well as talking to them about the dedication needed to improve. I think the youngsters walked away with a greater appreciation for the game of golf. Giving of our time to such a great group of kids is something in which we take great pride."

The weekend continues on Saturday with a scheduled 54-hole, 17-team intercollegiate event at Prospect Bay.
