ATLANTA (March 23, 2011) - On Saturday, March 19 the GSU volleyball team gathered to make a community trip to a local children's hospital. The volleyball team chose to visit the Scottish Rite children's hospital to meet with and encourage the young patients.
GSU volleyball player Chelsea Perry details her experience here.
We were able to spend two and a half hours meeting with and playing with those who are undergoing stays at Scottish Rite. Our team played wii computer games like Mario kart and just dance.
We also were able to go outside and play a little basketball and golf with the kids. It was a delight to meet a lot of these kids and their parents from the Atlanta area. We also handed out some GSU volleyball gear.
This is part of Georgia State Athletics annual goal of having the student-athletes accumulate more than 4,500 hours of community service through projects throughout their home city of Atlanta. To view a photo gallery of the event, please click here.
