FAIRFAX, Va. - During the month of November, the student-advisory athletic council (SAAC) and Women's Lacrosse started a canned food drive, to participate in the national "Hunger and Homelessness Week." So on November 23rd, George Mason University Athletic Department donated 360 pounds of non-perishables to Manna Food collection center in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The student-athlete advisory council organized the second annual canned food drive during the hunger and homeless week. Mason Athletics hopes to make this canned food drive an annual event. Giving back to the community during a time of need around the holiday season is very important to SAAC and the Mason Athletic Department.
