Student Spotlight 2009-10
CAA teams and student-athletes are involved in many activities away from the field of play. In an effort to recognize this, the "Student-Athlete Spotlight" will feature the CAA schools throughout the school year highlighting various activities that CAA student-athletes may be involved with in the community and/or on campus.

Student-Athlete Mission Statement
“As CAA Student-Athletes we commit ourselves to Be The Difference. As leaders in the community we personify and instill sportsmanship, perseverance, and compassion to establish a legacy based on today’s excellence and tomorrow’s success."

HOFSTRA LACROSSE CONTINUES AWARENESS AND FUNDRAISING FOR HEADSTRONG
|
This total, combined with the first-ever Nick Colleluori Women's Tournament held at Hofstra in September, results in almost $40,000 in which SAAC has helped raise funds and awareness. To read more about the women's tournament, click here.
The Hofstra Men's Lacrosse team has had the privilege each year to play in the Men's Nick Colleluori Lacrosse Classic played at Nick's high school in Ridley, PA. This tournament finished its third successful classic this past October. To read more about the Third Annual Nick Colleluori Lacrosse Classic, click here.
Since Nick's passing in the Fall of 2006, Hofstra Student-Athletes have rallied around Nick's vision and dream. The HEADstrong Foundation's signature lime green laces are worn by many of our team's both on and off the playing field, as well as featuring Nick's number 27 on many pieces of apparel. Rather than to retire Nick's jersey, this year the Hofstra Men's Lacrosse team decided to honor Nick by assigning the number to a deserving senior each year. The first player to wear #27 was senior captain Adam Swarsen. "As a fifth-year senior, wearing #27 is a tremendous privilege" said Adam Swarsen. It is an absolute honor to be a part of continuing Nick Colleluori's legacy by playing with relentless effort, attitude, and heart. My teammates and I will survive everyday to emulate Nick on and off the field"
