There is a quote that states, "The most important single influence is the life of a person is another person....who is worthy of emulation."
VCU's women's soccer team is trying to be "worthy of emulation" for a group of local kids after spending several Saturday mornings with the Sparkles of the Shady Grove YMCA.
The Rams spent Saturday mornings going through drills, giving tips and just talking with the group of over 40 seven and eight-year-old girls.
"It was an awesome thing to see as a parent," Sparkles' Coach Mark Halstead said. "For theses student athletes to take time out of their schedule and work with our girls, it really speaks to their character. It's something our girls will never forget."
"We all know that being a student athlete here at VCU is much more than just going to class and winning games," sophomore Molly Allen said. "We have an opportunity to be role models for many young girls in the area and it's something that we really enjoy as a team."
