On November 18, 2009 Ray Brown (football) and Yolie Anderson (women's soccer) visited Harrisonburg High School to speak to students in the AVID Program.
The AVID program consisted of a group of 9th grade students who have the potential to become first generation college students. Ray Brown was able to share with the students his success story because he was a first generation college student.
The students created a thank you poster with hand written notes from each student. The program director requested that more JMU athletes come back in the spring to speak again.
