New Georgia State Director of Athletics Cheryl L. Levick had set a goal last August when the student-athletes reported to classes of 3,000 hours of community service for the 300 combined athletes. Not only was that goal of 3,000 hours reached, it was shattered as the final count of the 303 student-athletes totaled 4,075 combined hours of community service to Atlanta.

That works out to an average of 13.4 volunteer hours for each student-athlete, while carrying their full class loads and topping a combined 3.0 GPA, plus competing in their respective sports in record-setting fashion.

"We are so proud of their enthusiasm and willingness to participate in the community service projects," Levick said. "Staff member Joanne Harris coordinated these efforts all year long and kept every team and every student-athlete involved in giving back to the community. In the classroom, on the fields of competition and in giving back, Georgia State's student-athletes are to be commended."
