On Saturday, April 17, 2010, current members and alumni of the George Mason Women's Basketball team participated in the 4th Annual Walk for Lupus NOW. The effort was led by RaShauna HoBbs, the only Senior on the team and SAAC member. Rashauna has supported and participated in the Walk for Lupus Now for the past four years. Her motivation for supporting this cause was to support her former teammate, a friend, Moni Akintunde.

Moni Akintunde played basketball for George Mason University from 2004-2008 and during that time she was diagnosed with Lupus. The Lupus Foundation of America, Greater Washington Chapter (LFAGW) provides free education and support services to lupus patients and their families. The funds raised will help with research and, hopefully, one day lead to a cure.
