In April, members of the Georgia State football team paid a visit to Martin Luther King Middle School to have lunch and talk with the students about the importance of education, sportsmanship and how to deal with peer pressure.

This school has a bond with Georgia State as the fields beside the school is where the Panthers had their first-ever practice last August while the new practice fields were being built. The school also was the site chosen by the NFL during the Super Bowl in Atlanta to place its Youth Education Town, an after-school facility to assist the youth in this part of the city.

Every member of Georgia State's athletic teams are asked to serve a minimum of 10 hours of community service to become engaged in the culture and society near the campus.
