PHILADELPHIA - Nearly 20 student-athletes from Drexel's Men's Soccer, Women's Lacrosse and Dance Teams participated in Special Olympics events on Saturday, April 24th being hosted at William Penn Charter School on West School House Lane in Philadelphia.

Drexel student-athletes helped with specific events by doing timekeeping, scorekeeping and instructing Special Olympics athletes. In addition, they helped in "Olympic Town," an activity area where Special Olympics athletes can do arts and crafts, play games and relax when not competing. They also supported the Special Olympics athletes by cheering them on during their competitions, talking with them when they weren't competing and accompanying them to lunch. Having the Drexel athletes there to "buddy up" with some of the Special Olympics athletes made the day fun and exciting for them!

Men's Soccer indicated an interest in becoming involved in the organization's fall soccer tournament if it doesn't conflict with their own competition schedule. Dance team would like to do some type of clinic or event with the athletes. There are many Special Olympics events coming up that Drexel teams could assist with if interested.  Go Dragons!
