WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Twenty-one Tribe teams and the cheerleaders delivered over 70 laundry baskets of food to the local food pantry "FISH" as part of Thanksgiving and spring food drives.

Each team and the cheerleading squad purchases food and supplies according to the FISH requested items, and packs them in laundry baskets.  FISH president Albert Voorhess noted that as economic downtrends continue, referral numbers for food pantry services increases.

In thanking the SAAC he stated that the Tribe donations have helped FISH meet these increased demands.  The Tribe SAAC delivers Thanksgiving and spring meal baskets to FISH annually.  In addition to these annual efforts, the men's gymnastics and baseball teams conduct their own drives.

This spring the Tribe SAAC collected clothing and shoes for donation to the Grove Outreach Center, a community organization dedicated to serving those in need in the Grove community of Williamsburg.  This marks the beginning of service to this agency by the SAAC, and future food and clothing drives to benefit the community are planned.
