NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware men's soccer program was present to
offer support for the UDance event on March 21 to raise funds for Pediatric
Medical Research. The event was an overwhelming success with $112,930 raised
mainly for two organizations, the Andrew McDonough B+ foundation and Elizabeth
Glaser's Pediatric AIDS Foundation. The Andrew McDonough Foundation provides
financial relief to families with critically ill children, and funding for
research into curing pediatric cancers. The Glaser Foundation focuses on AIDS
infection eradication in children through research, education and treatment
programs.
"Events such as those organized by UDance are close to our hearts since our
players and coaches work so often with young athletes," said head coach Ian
Hennessy. "We feel obliged to help with events like those organized by UDance
anytime that we have the opportunity."
The men's soccer program is an annual supporter of the Prevent Child Abuse
Delaware (PCAD). The fourth annual 5K run at Rockford Park will take place on
Wed., June 9 at 6:30 p.m. For additional information, please visit www.pcadelaware.org.
