Every February the WBCA launches its Pink Zone initiative to help fight breast cancer which raised 1.3 million dollars in 2009 with over 1,600 schools participating in the event. This season, it takes on special meaning for the Northeastern women’s basketball team as assistant coach Bill Carpenter is battling with cancer himself.

To show support for “Coach Carp” the Huskies will kickoff sales of “Winners Just Respond” bracelets at every home men’s and women’s basketball games as well as men’s hockey games. The bracelets cost $3 with all proceeds going to Stand Up to Cancer.

The Huskies will hold their Pink Zone game on Thursday, February 18 as they take on UNC Wilmington at Solomon Court at 7 p.m.
