The Drexel University Field Hockey parents ran its annual BBQ at Drexel's Preseason Scrimmage Extravaganza held on August 22, 2009 this year.  Field Hockey America, a non-profit created to help promote field hockey at the grass roots level, designed and donated t-shirts for the event.  Schools that participated this year were:  Drexel, Lehigh, Villanova, Saint Joseph's, West Chester, Temple, Rider and La Salle.  The event is also a volunteer practice event for umpires to prepare for the college season.

Field hockey players throughout the region were invited to attend free of charge with the goal of inspiring them to attend college and pursue their dreams of playing high level hockey.  All U19 attendees received a Field Hockey America event t-shirt as part of the ongoing effort to bring more field hockey into the area and recognize the quality programs in the area.  For more information, visit:

Most importantly, at this year's event, the Drexel parents donated food, drinks and their time to run the Calvin Hick's BBQ.  All proceeds from the BBQ went to support West Philadelphia native and extraordinary Dragon Fan, Calvin Hicks.

The BBQ raised nearly $900 for Calvin.   Plans are underway to continue the Calvin Hicks BBQ and make it an annual event for a perennial fan.
