This is Drexel's second year participating and plans are in place to host an event annually. This year, James Madison University joined Drexel in wearing the pink on the field; Drexel wore pink wristbands and shoelaces and JMU wore pink hairbands. Both teams agreed to make cancer their greatest opponent that day.
October is Play for the Cure Month and every hockey player, captain, coach, manager, parent, and fan is encouraged to participate in the campaign against cancer. October is the height of the field hockey playing season in the United States and the month when the National spotlight shines on breast cancer awareness.
