NEWARK, Del.  --  The University of Delaware women's lacrosse coaching staff will host a lacrosse clinic for field players and goalkeepers on the UD campus on Saturday, Feb. 6, from 9 a.m. until 12 noon.

This pre-season clinic, for girls in grades 8-12,  is designed to prepare athletes for the upcoming 2010 season with speciality work for attack, midfield, and defensive players as well as for goalkeepers.

Individual and team concept play will be highlighted and athletes will have the chance to be coached by top collegiate coaches and learn what is needed to play at the next level.

The camp will be held at the University of Delaware Field House or on the UD practice turf fields depending on the weather. Athletes must have their own equipment and should bring indoor and turf shoes, water, a snack, and indoor and outdoor clothes.

Walk-up registration is by cash only beginning at 8:30 a.m. the day of the event. Enrollment is limited.

The camp will be directed by sixth-year University of Delaware women's lacrosse head coach Kim Ciarrocca, one of the nations's winningest NCAA Division I head coaches with 203 career victories. She has led the Blue Hens to the Colonial Athletic Association semifinals four times in the last five seasons, including a berth in the championship game last spring.

Other clinic staffers will be UD assistant coaches Liz Martin, Jaime Dardine, and nationally-recognized goalkeeper coach Reid Watson as well as members of the Blue Hen women's lacrosse team.
