Harrisonburg, Va. - On October 28, 2009 three James Madison University student-athletes spoke to the entire student body during an assembly at Pleasant Valley Elementary School in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

The student-athletes who spoke were Dominique White and Ray Brown from the football team, and Diane Wszalek from the women’s soccer team.  The student-athletes spoke about responsibility and how being responsible is important for both academics and athletics.

“Having the opportunity to speak to the students at Pleasant Valley Elementary was phenomenal," Brown said. "Speaking on the topic of responsibility helped me realize how important it is for each of us to be responsible. It is always great as an athlete to show students that athletes are good people outside of their sport, and that by being responsible you increase your power to influence. This opportunity also allowed me to strengthen my public speaking skills, which is always a benefit.”
