Mike Gottlieb, who led Towson University to its first-ever CAA baseball championship, was named as the ABCA East region Coach of the Year, while William & Mary's Jamie Pinzino was chosen as the Coach of the Year in the state of Virginia by VASID.

In his 26th season as the Tigers’ coach, Gottlieb guided Towson to 25-28 regular season record and a fourth place finish in the CAA with a 14-13 record.

However, the Tigers came alive in the CAA Tournament. As the CAA Tournament’s number four seed, the Tigers advanced to the second round with a 9-8 win over Northeastern. In the second round, Towson edged the top seed UNCW, 13-11. The Tigers advanced to the CAA championship round with a 20-13 victory over William & Mary. The Tigers clinched the CAA championship with a 5-2 victory over the Tribe on the final day of the tournament.

One of three CAA teams to earn berths in the NCAA Tournament, the Tigers were sent to the Chapel Hill Regional where they joined No. 1 North Carolina, No. 23 Florida Atlantic and Canisius. At the regional tournament, the Tigers finished third. After a 7-2 win over Florida Atlantic in the opening round, Towson dropped an 8-5 decision to North Carolina before losing to FAU in an elimination game, 6-5.

For Gottlieb, this marks the second time that he was been named as the ABCA East Region Coach of the Year. He also won the award in 1988, his first season as the Tigers’ coach.

Pinzino, who was the 2013 CAA Co-Coach of the Year, led William & Mary to a school record 39 wins and its first-ever NCAA Tournament victories.  The first-year skipper led the Tribe to its first-ever NCAA Tournament at-large berth and its first appearance in the NCAA’s since the 2001 season. He's the first W&M baseball coach to receive VASID Coach of the Year accolades.
