RICHMOND, Va. (November 26, 2013) –William & Mary senior Andrew Strait and UNCW junior Valtteri Halonen have been named CAA Co-Men’s Swimmers of the Week, while Towson senior Alex Cohen was named Diver of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.

Strait and Halonen have hear their names called for weekly league honors plenty of times already this fall and it was no different this week after each swimmer continued to make great strides individually. Strait set new league-highs in the 100-breaststroke (55.15) and the 200-breast (2:01.05) finishing first and second, respectively, at the Hokie Fall Invitational. Both his prelim and finals times for the 100-breast was an NCAA provisional cut. Strait picked up his first weekly nod of the season and of his career on Nov. 5.

Halonen amazingly earned weekly swimming honors for the fourth time this season. The junior had a solid showing at the Patriot Invitational, capturing five events over the weekend, including four individual and one team relay. The stud Seahawk placed first in the 50-free (20.80), first in the 100-fly (49.39), then set new meet records for his blazing times in the 100-backstroke (49.81) and the winning 400-medley relay team’s time of 1:48.14.

Cohen’s efforts this weekend again warranted weekly honors – his fourth of the season – after breaking his own program record in the 1-meter dive by scoring 307.13 points. The senior followed that with a first-place finish in the 3-meter with a score of 288.53.

Towson next competes on Jan. 3-4 at the Georgia Dive Invite; UNCW is off until Jan. 11 and William & Mary returns to action next on Jan. 11th.
