CAA Swimming and Diving Honors ? Jan. 22
RICHMOND, Va. (Jan. 22, 2013) - William
& Mary's Andrew Strait has been named the CAA Men's Swimmer of the Week, while
Towson's Kaitlin Burke and UNCW's Carly Tanner have been named the CAA Women's
Co-Swimmers of the Week. George Mason's John Schmitz and Towson's Lyndsey
Dickson were tabbed as the CAA Men's and Women's Divers of the Week.
Strait continued his impressive junior
campaign last weekend with two individual victories in the Tribe's dual meet at
Virginia Tech. He won the 200 breast in 2:06.27, and posted a time of 4:04.36
to capture the victory in the 400 IM. Strait also swam the breaststroke leg on
the Tribe's 400 medley relay team, finishing second. He now has 18 wins this
season, which ties him for fifth most in a single season in school history.
Burke tallied three individual victories in
Towson's dual meet against Delaware en route to earning her fourth Swimmer of
the Week honor. She collected victories in the 100 (52.39) and 200 (1:51.10)
free, while posting a time of 4:55.58 to pick up a victory in the 500 free.
Burke also swam a leg on the Tigers' winning 400 freestyle relay team to help
Towson defeat Delaware 205-95.
Tanner collects her third Swimmer of the
Week honor after collecting three individual victories in the Seahawks' 167-113
dual victory over Wingate last Saturday. She set a new pool record in the 100
breast with a winning time of 1:04.26 and posted a time of 52.40 to capture the
victory in the 100 free. She also was a member of UNCW's first-place 400 free
relay team with a time of 3:33.44, and swam a leg in the Seahawks' winning 400
medley relay team. Tanner has won a team-leading 12 individual events this season.
Schmitz posted two top five finishes in the
Patriots' dual meets against American and Army to pick up his second Diver of
the Week award this season. He tallied 298.35 points to collect second place
honors on the three-meter board while tallying 267.00 points on the one-meter
board to pick up a fourth-place finish. Schmitz's score on the three-meter dive
was a personal best at George Mason.
Dickson captures her fourth Diver of the
Week honor with a first-place finish in the Tigers' dual meet against Delaware.
She scored 298.05 points to collect top honors on the three-meter dive while
also tallying 269.25 points on the one-meter dive to bring home a second-place
finish.
