CAA 4-1-1:
• The
11 league members have posted a 53-49 record in the season against
non-conference foes. The conference schedule is set to begin Jan. 6.
• Elena
Delle Donne returned to the court on Dec. 20 as the Blue Hens took on
nationally-ranked Maryland. Delle Donne scored a game-high 19 points in the UD
loss, 69-53, and then scored 30 against Monmouth on Dec. 22.
• Shante
Evans and the Hofstra Pride won back-to-back games over power conference teams
(Ole Miss and Northwestern) to win the NY Life Holiday Tournament title.
• The
most recent RPIRatings.com report posted that the CAA was ranked 14th among the
33 conferences with three teams in the Top 100.
• The
College of Charleston has accepted an invitation of membership to join the CAA
beginning July 2013.
• The
CAA Women's Basketball Championship will return to the Show Place Arena in
Upper Marlboro, Maryland in 2013 for the third straight season.
• Delaware
fell out of the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches Top 25 Polls on Nov. 19,
but continued to receive votes in the AP Poll.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Shante Evans • Hofstra

Evans was named CAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week after
leading the Pride to a pair of home victories over Mississippi and Northwestern
to earn the New York Life Holiday Invitational title. The senior forward poured
in 23.5 points and 15.0 rebounds per game, to go along with four assists, six
steals and three blocks. Evans shot 47.2 percent from the floor for the week
going 17-for-36 during 67 minutes of play.
She also went 13-for-16 (.813) from the free throw line.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:

Hall earned CAA Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week
honors leading the Dukes in a home victory over American to snap a three-game
losing skid. Hall tied for a game high with a career-best 16 points. She shot
42.9 percent on 6-for-14 from the field, including three baskets from long
range. The freshman added one rebound and a career-high two assists in the win.
CAA AT NO. 15 IN RPI RANKING (Through Dec. 23): The CAA is ranked 14th among
the nation's 33 Division I conferences in women's basketball according to the
RPI report compiled by Collegiate Basketball News. James Madison is ranked at
No. 88 in the team RPI ranking, as the first of three CAA teams in the Top 100.
Drexel (90) and Delaware is at 97 are the other CAA schools that are listed in
the Top 100. Northeastern (112), Old Dominion (125), Hofstra (157), George
Mason (184), and Georgia State (188) round out the CAA teams in the Top 200.
STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE (Through Dec. 23): The James Madison Dukes have
played some of the toughest teams in the country as the Dukes' schedule was
ranked the sixth thus far this season. The Dukes (4-6) have played Virginia
(RPI-52), Duquesne (RPI-25), Quinnipiac (RPI-42), Green Bay (RPI-33), Richmond
(RPI-71) and Minnesota (RPI-82) so far this season. Hofstra followed at 42,
George Mason at 123 and Delaware fell
among the top 150 at 136 in strength of schedule rankings through games
of Dec. 23.
