CAA Swimming & Diving Honors - Dec. 4
RICHMOND, Va. (December 4, 2012) - George Mason senior David
Kiss was chosen as the CAA men's Swimmer of the Week, while Drexel senior
Lauren Faykes and Old Dominion senior Kimberley Rashleigh were selected as the
CAA co-women's Swimmers of the Week.
James Madison senior Kimberly Helfrich was honored as the CAA women's Diver of
the Week once again.
Kiss turned in several strong performances during the
AT&T Winter National Championship in Austin, Texas. The senior placed 23rd
overall in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:50.25, which was the fastest time
in the conference this season. He also posted a time of 50.22 in the 100
butterfly and a time of 1:54.95 in the 200 IM.
Faykes broke the Drexel school record in the 200 IM during
time trials at the AT&T Winter National Championships with a time of 2:05.6
The previous record had stood at Drexel since 1990. She also finished 39th
in the 200 fly after posting a time of 2:01.76 and swam the 100 fly time trial
in 57.19.
Rashleigh set a new pool record in the 200 IM with a
race-winning time of 2:06.25 in a meet against George Washington and Rutgers. She
also placed first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 57.53 and was second in
the 200 back with a time of 2:03.49.
Helfrich was honored as the CAA Diver of the Week for the
fifth time this season after setting a new school and Savage Natatorium record
in the one-meter dive with a winning score of 327.85. She also placed first in
the three-meter dive with a score of 304.75 in the Dukes' victories over
Radford and Mount St. Mary's. Helfrich now owns the school record in both
events.
