Richmond, Va. (Nov. 15, 2012) - Delaware's Elena Delle Donne and Hofstra's Shante Evans have recently been named to a pair of national preseason watch lists. The duo was named to the 2012-13 Wooden Award Preseason Top 30 and to the Naismith Women's early season watch list.

The Wooden Award selections are based on last year's individual performance and team records. The list was chose by a preseason poll of national college women's basketball media members. Delle Donne was on the watch list a year ago, while Evans joined the Top 20 mid-season list during the 2011-12 season.

In 2011-12, Delle Donne led the nation pouring in 28.1 points per game. Delle Donne, who became only the 15th player in NCAA Division I women’s basketball history to surpass the 900-point mark for a season, also led the Blue Hens with 10.3 rebounds per game, 86 blocked shots, 39 steals, and 52 three-point field goals while ranking second on the team with 75 assists. Evans averaged 19.2 points and 10.5 rebounds per game for the Pride a year ago.

Created in 1976, the Wooden Award is the most prestigious individual honor in college basketball. It is bestowed upon the nation's best player at an institution of higher education who has proven to his or her university that he or she is making progress toward graduation and maintaining a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA.  Previous winners include such notables as Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Candace Parker and Maya Moore of Connecticut.

Delle Donne and Evans were just two of 50 players selected to the list for the Naismith honor, which is the most prestigious national award presented annually to college basketball's player of the year. The senior duo All-Americans both return to the list for the second consecutive year, as Delle Donne earned a spot on the early season list and Evans joined her on the mid-season list in 2011-12.

In late February, the Atlanta Tipoff Club's Board of Selectors will compile a mid‐season team of the top 30 players in the nation. In March, the Naismith Trophy voting academy will vote to narrow the list to the four finalists

Delle Donne and Evans were also named candidates of the Senior CLASS Award earlier this fall among the many honors thus far this season.  They were also named to the 2012 CAA Preseason All-CAA first team.
