CAA Swimming and Diving Honors ? Nov. 13
RICHMOND,
Va. (Nov. 13, 2012) - William & Mary's Andrew Strait has been named the CAA
Men's Swimmer of the Week while the Tribe's Megan Howard and Towson's Kaitlin
Burke were named the Women's Co-Swimmers of the Week. Delaware's Luke Winkler
and Kristen Congdon were named the men's and women's Divers of the Week.
Strait
continued his dominant season this past weekend, capturing two individual
events and helping win the 400 medley relay against East Carolina. Strait set
pool records while winning the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:53.16 and
swimming the breaststroke leg in the 400 medley relay (3:26.61). He also swam
55.95 in the 100 breast, the second-fastest time in school history behind his
own record from earlier this season.
Howard
collected two individual victories in the Tribe's dual meet against East
Carolina last Saturday. She won the 50 free in 24.15 and also came back in the
200 free relay to record the same time on her lead leg, carrying the Tribe to
victory. The relay time of 1:35.64 was just off of the pool record. Howard also
finished second in the 100 fly (57.19) and second as part of the Tribe's 400
medley relay (3:54.95).
Burke
tallied four victories last weekend in the Tigers' 211-82 dual win over George
Washington. She won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:06.91 while adding a victory in
the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.08. Burke also swam a leg in the 400-yard
freestyle relay which posted a winning time of 3:33.77 and was a member of the
200-free relay team that finished first with a time of 1:46.16.
Winkler
collected a victory in the three-meter dive as the Blue Hens finished 2-0 last
weekend with wins over La Salle (195-104.5) and Rider (190.5-109.5). He earned
top honors in the three-meter dive with a total of 280.10 points while
collecting 245.70 points in the one-meter dive.
Congdon
collected two victories as the Blue Hens knocked off Rider (199-101) and La
Salle (229-70) last weekend. She tallied 258.85 points to win the one-meter
meter dive, and 271.55 points to pick up the win in the three-meter dive.
