CAA Swimming and Diving Honors ? Oct. 23
RICHMOND,
Va. (Oct. 23 2012) - UNCW's Valtteri Halonen has been named the CAA men's swimmer
of the week while Towson's Kendall Towe was named the CAA women's swimmer of
the week. Towson teammates Alex Cohen and Lyndsey Dickson received CAA diver of
the week honors.
Halonen
posted at least three wins for the second consecutive meet and helped lead the
Seahawks to a 160-131 win over Division III power Emory. He took home first
place in both the 100 and 200 backstroke events with times of 50.78 and 1:50.74,
respectively. Halonen also swam the leadoff leg of the winning 200 medley relay
team (1:32.94) and helped his 200 free relay team to a third-place finish
(1:25.00). His time in the 100 backstroke is second-fastest in the CAA this
season as is his mark in the 200 backstroke.
Towe
collected two first-place finishes to lead the Tigers to a 188.50-106.50
victory over Georgetown. She won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:53.33 and
the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:04.83. Towe also took home second place in
the 100 butterfly after posting a time of 56.98.
Cohen
earned two first-place finishes to help the Towson men to a 154-134 victory
over Georgetown. He picked up a total of 276.90 points to earn the victory in
the three-meter dive, while tallying 262.65 points to win the one-meter dive.
Dickson
earned 13 points for the Tigers to help secure the victory over the Hoyas. She
won the three-meter dive with a total of 270.52 points and took second place in
the one-meter dive (241.95), barely being edged out by teammate Natalee Szopo.
