CAA Field
Hockey Player of the Week:
Crystal
Poland, Sr., Forward, Northeastern
Poland
made history again for Northeastern last week when, against Hofstra, she became
the Huskies' all-time leading points scorer with 168. Over the weekend, Poland
accumulated four goals and an assist for nine points. Poland's two goals and an
assist against Hofstra helped the Huskies to a 7-1 win over the Pride. Poland
followed that up with two of NU's three goals against No. 13 Boston University,
one of which came on a penalty stroke. Poland now has a CAA-best 24 goals and
53 points, five goals shy of tying the NU record for most in a season.
CAA Field
Hockey Rookie of the Week:
Deirdre Duke, Fr., Forward,
Northeastern
Duke
became the first Northeastern player to score four goals in a single game since
2003 in the Huskies' 7-1 win over Hofstra. The freshman had a hat trick in the
first period against the Pride, and finished out the second half with another
goal and an assist to help the Huskies pick up the victory. Her four-goal
performance was the second-best performance in the NCAA this season (three
players have had five-goal games). Duke has 11 goals and five assists for the
season. Her game-winner against Hofstra gives her four GWG in 2012, tied for
second most in the CAA behind teammate Crystal Poland.
