CAA Baseball Tourney Returns To UNCW In 14-15
RICHMOND, Va. (October 19, 2012) - Following a two-year
hiatus, the CAA Baseball Championship will return to UNCW's Brooks Field for
the 2014 and 2015 seasons.
The postseason tournament was held in Wilmington from
2004-2011 before moving to Harrisonburg, Va. in 2012 and 2013 at James
Madison's Veterans Memorial Park.
"We're excited about the CAA Baseball Championship returning
to Wilmington for 2014 and 2015," CAA Commissioner Tom Yeager said. "Their
tremendous facilities, the significant local interest and the region's
amenities make this an ideal site for our teams and fans."
Brooks Field has been the host of the CAA Baseball
Championship 11 times, including 1989, 1990 and 1993, along with the eight-year
run from 2004-11. The CAA Baseball Championship features a six-team,
double-elimination format played out over four days. The first three days
feature three games each day, followed by Saturday's championship.
Brooks Field, which has a capacity of 3,000, includes surrounding
regulation fields for practice, concession areas, restrooms and a press box.
The tournament has received outstanding community support in past years.
