Richmond?s Martin Named CAA Women?s Golfer of the Week ? Oct. 17
RICHMOND, Va. (October 17, 2012) - Richmond
senior Tracy Martin received CAA Women's Golfer of the Week honors for the
first time this fall after winning the CSU Wendy's Invitational and becoming
the second golfer in program history to earn medalist honors in a full-field
event.
Martin won the event after carding
1-under par 71. The CSU Wendy's Invitational was held at the par 72, 6,011-yard
Rivertowne Country Club in Charleston, S.C. The senior shot a season-low 70 in
the first round and followed it up with a one-over 73 in the second round.
Martin claimed the title after passing leader Jenna Birch of Armstrong Atlantic
State with an even-par 72 in the final round (70-73-72-215). Martin's total of
215 ties her own 54-hole school record she set at the Spider Invitational last
season. The Spiders won the event by 12
strokes over second place Wofford. The title is the second in the program's
history and the first under newly welcomed head coach Maggie Will.
