RICHMOND, Va. (Oct. 17 2012) - Delaware's Ryan Roberts  and George Mason's Fernando Rubio have been named the CAA Co-Men's Swimmers of the Week while UNCW's Carly Tanner has been named the CAA Women's Swimmer of the week following numerous individual first-place finishes in dual meets last weekend. James Madison's Kimberly Helfrich and Mason's John Schmitz have been named the CAA Divers of the Week.

Roberts recorded three first-place finishes in the Blue Hens' dual meet against George Mason. He collected individual wins in the 100 backstroke (50.96) and 200 backstroke (1:50.32) and also was a part of the 200 medley relay team that captured first place with a time of 1:34.37.

Rubio also had three first-place event finishes to lead the Patriots to a 157-143 dual victory over Delaware. He collected victories in the 1000 free (9:43.98) and 200 breast (2:10.80) and posted a time of 4:03.09 to capture the 400 individual medley.

Tanner earns her second CAA women's swimmer of the week award after three individual first-place finishes against Old Dominion. She won the 50 free with a time of 23.88 and the 100 free with a time of 52.95. She also picked up a victory in the 100 breast with a time of 1:05.29. In relay action, Tanner was a member of the 200 free relay team that took first place with a time of 1:36.84.

Helfrich collected two first-place finishes in the one and three meter dives. She had a total score of 264.45 in the 3-meter and a 269.00 in the 1-meter dive. The two first-place finishes for Helfrich helped the Dukes open the season 2-0 with wins over Rider (231-67) and UMBC (175-124).

Schmitz earned first place in the 3-meter dive with a cumulative score of 270.15 in the Patriots' victory over Delaware. He also posted a second-place finish in the 1-meter dive with a total score of 272.25, only six points behind the first place finisher, Luke Winkler of Delaware.

In other CAA action, UNCW's Valtteri Halonen set a new pool record at Old Dominion in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 1:50.98. Halonen was also on two Seahawk relay teams that set new pool records in the 200 Medley (1:32.04) and 400 Freestyle (3:07.04). UNCW edged ODU 177-176 by winning 2-of-3 scoring spots in the final event of the meet, the 400 Freestyle Relay.
