Gallagher, Tauber Named Cross Country Runners of the Week
RICHMOND, Va. (Sept. 25, 2012) - Northeastern's
Wesley Gallagher and Towson's Elizabeth Tauber have been selected as the CAA Cross
Country Runners of the week following first and second-place finishes in their
respective meets last weekend.
Gallagher finished first overall at the
Ted Owen Invitational in New Britain, Conn. and led the Huskies to the team
championship. Gallagher's time of 25:29.43 in the 8k bested his previous career
best at the Nassaney Invitational by 17 seconds. Northeastern had
four top-15 finishers, including Stephen Sollowin, who finished third with a
time of 25:58.32.
Tauber placed second overall in the Towson
Invitational 5K at
Oregon Ridge Park. Tauber's time of 19:00.86 helped the Tigers win their
seventh straight team title at the event.
Towson placed five runners among the top 11 finishers, including Emma
Tobin, who finished fifth with a time of 19:19.20 to set a personal record.
The CAA continued to have a strong
presence in this week's USTFCCCA
NCAA Division I Regional Cross Country Rankings. William & Mary and George
Mason were ranked seventh and ninth in the Southeast Rankings on the men's
side. The Tribe was also seventh in the Southeast Rankings on the women's side,
while Delaware stayed at 11th in the Mid-Atlantic Rankings.
