CAA Volleyball Offensive
Player of the Week:
Marta Machos, Sr.,
OPP, Towson
Machos lead the Tigers to three straight wins, including a
3-0 victory over defending CAA Champion Delaware. The senior opposite had 41
kills (averaging 3.73 per set) while hitting .493. She also had 10 digs, seven
blocks and four service aces in the three matches this week. In the CAA opener
against Delaware she had 13 kills, hit .370 with two digs and two blocks.
Machos closed out her week with a career-high 17 kills in the win at Penn.
CAA Volleyball Defensive
Player of the Week:
I'ishah Keliikoa,
Sr., MB/OPP, Towson
Keliikoa had 38 kills and 13 blocks in the three matches
last week. She hit .632 for the week, making just two hitting errors
in 57 attempts. In the win over Delaware Keliikoa piled up 12 kills and hit
.550 with two blocks. She finished the week by matching her career-high in
kills with 13 against Penn, hit .750 in the match and added three blocks.
CAA Volleyball Co-Rookie
of the Week:
Bernetta Moore, Fr.,
L, George Mason
Moore tallied 25 digs to help George Mason snap a six
match loosing streak and defeat Georgia State Friday Night. She averaged 8.33
digs per set during the match and added two assists. Moore leads the Patriots
in digs (233), and digs per set (4.66) this season.
CAA Volleyball Co-Rookie
of the Week:
Mackenzie Olsen, Fr.,
S, Delaware
Olsen led Delaware in assists during both matches last
weekend. She posted season-highs of 67 assists and 24 digs during Wednesday's
match against Penn and added 28 assists Friday at Towson. The Calivornia native
averaged 11.88 assists per set andd added four kills against zero attack errors
to hit .400 for the week.
Conference
Notes
Northeastern is 6-0 in home matches at Solomon Court this
season.
Hofstra's win over Fordham Tuesday night marked the fourth
straight match for the Pride that went five sets. It was their longest streak
of five-set matches since 1993.
Delaware senior Alissa Alker eclipsed the 1,100 career
kill-mark during the Blue Hens' 3-2 loss to Penn Wednesday night.
Towson is currently riding a seven-match winning streak,
the longest active streak in the CAA.
JMU's win versus Georgia State Saturday was the 50th
career win for haed coach Lauren Steinbrecher.
All seven of UNCW's victories this season have come by way
of 3-0 sweeps. The Seahawaks have posted a margin of victory of 7.1 points per
set during those matches.
Towson's Aubrey Kirven was named the Eastern College
Athletic Conference Player of the Week Tuesday after being named CAA Co-Player
of the Week last Monday. The senior setter was named the MVP of the Hilton
University 49er Invitational after averaging 14.10 assists per set. She leads
the CAA with 700 assists this season.
