George Mason Finishes Seventh In 4x400 Relay at NCAA Championships

Des Moines, Iowa (June 9, 2012) - The George Mason men's 4x400m relay wrapped up competition at the final day of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field championships on the campus of Drake University with a seventh-place finish.

The team of senior Nick Vaughn, junior George Empty, senior Ja-Vell Bullard and junior David Verburg crossed the finish line in a time of 3:03.93 to finish in seventh place. The University of Florida won the event with a time of 3:00.02, and was followed by USC (3:00.64) and LSU (3:01.21) in the top three.

On the individual side, Georgia State senior Angelia Nugent withdrew from competition in the triple jump after pulling her hamstring in the first attempt at the NCAA Championship meet Saturday morning.

Nugent earned a spot in the 2012 national meet after breaking her own school record by jumping 13m (42' 8") at the NCAA East Regional meet on May 24-26.
