Maine Defensive Back Jerron McMillian Taken By The Green Bay Packers
NEW YORK, N.Y. (April 28, 2012) -- One of CAA Football's First Team Safeties, Jerron McMillian from Maine, was the second player taken from the league in the 2012 NFL Draft. The Green Bay Packers took McMillian with one of their two compensatory picks at the end of the fourth round (133rd overall). The defensive back is the most recent draft pick from Maine since Darren Stone went in the sixth round to Atlanta in 2007. McMillian also now ranks as the highest draft pick, in terms of rounds, from the Black Bear program surpassing John Huard who was taken in the fifth round in 1967.
McMillian's selection coupled with Delaware's Gradkowski, chosen by the Ravens, give CAA Football multiple NFL Draft picks in every draft dating back to 1999. McMillian is the first league player taken by the Packers since William and Mary's Darren Sharper was a second-round pick by the franchise in 1997.
