Men's Golf Weekly Honors - March 28
RICHMOND, Va. (March 28, 2012) - Old
Dominion's Neil Henderson and Hofstra's Brandon Shin has garnered CAA Men's
Golfers of the Week after strong performances last weekend.
Henderson paced ODU with a fifth place
individual finish at the C&F Bank Intercollegiate, turning in rounds of
76-70-70 (+3) on the 6,831 yard par-71 River Course at the Kingsmill Resort in
Williamsburg, Va. The senior's second round score of 70, tied for lowest score
of the day, which included four birdies in rainy conditions. The Monarchs tied
for second as a team in the event out of 29 teams, just two shots behind
Missouri. Winthrop's Kamito Hirai took the individual title with a 54-hole
total of 211.
Shin earned medalist honors at the
LaSalle Invitational after carding rounds of 74-74 (+6) on the 6,400 yard
par-71 layout at Tallamore Country Club in Ambler, Pa. The freshman cruised to
a six-shot win, with his second round 74 the lowest of the day in winds reaching
up to 40 miles per hour. It was Shin's first career win in just his fourth
collegiate start, eclipsing his previous best finish of 19th at the
George Washington Invitational. It is the first tournament win for a Hofstra
player since Sean Davy won the Tom Pecora Invitational on April 13, 2009. The
Pride finished the team portion in third of 12 teams, with Fordham earning the
title.
