CAA Wrestling Weekly Release - Feb. 21
LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. (Feb. 21, 2012) - Kyle
Czarnecki of Boston University and Matt Kayler of Binghamton University are the
Colonial Athletic Association Wrestlers of the Week and Nick Gwiazdowski of
Binghamton and Jimmy Morris of Rider University are the CAA Rookies of the
Week, for all competition the final week of the dual meet season.
Czarnecki, a junior from
Buffalo Grove, Ill., upset the top ranked 174 in the CAA,
the 10th ranked wrestler in the nation from Rider. Ranked third in the CAA, Czarnecki was
trailing in the third period before recording his fifth CAA victory in six
matches, and his 19th win of the season. Kayler, a senior from
Ballston Spa, N.Y., defeated the second ranked 165 in the CAA from
Old Dominion 8-1. Ranked fourth in the CAA, Kaylor improved to 5-1 in CAA duals
and 22-8 overall.
Morris, a freshman from Northport,
N.Y., upset the top ranked and undefeated 133 in the CAA from
Boston University who was ranked 12th in the nation. Ranked third in the
CAA, Morris improved to 4-1 in CAA dual meets.
Gwiazdowski, a freshman heavyweight
from Delanson, N.Y., won a major decision in a CAA dual with Old
Dominion to improve to 23-6 on the season, 5-0 in the CAA. Gwiazdowski is the
top ranked 285 and is ranked 17th in the nation.
