Balouris, Harman Earn USTFCCCA All-Region Honors
RICHMOND, Va. (Nov. 14, 2011) - James Madison's Katie Harman and William & Mary's Elaina Balouris have
earned All-Region honors as announced by the USTFCCCA on Monday.
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches
Association (USTFCCCA) recognized 450 athletes that earned All-Region awards
for cross country in Division I following this weekend's NCAA Regional
Championships. Athletes of member schools that finished in the top 25
individually at one of the nine regional sites earned the honor.
Harman finished
17th at the NCAA Southeast Regional meet in Louisville, Ky. She led
all JMU runners finishing the six kilometer course in 20:51.1. Harman was
also named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association team and earned Most
Outstanding Performer after an individual and team first-place finish at the
CAA Championship meet two weeks ago. This marks the first time in her career
that Harman has garnered All-Region honors and is her third career All-CAA
honor.
Balouris
earned a ninth place finish at the same location, the NCAA Southeast Regional. The
sophomore posted a time of 20:36.8 on the 6K course. Balouris' top-10 showing was the best
for a Tribe runner since All-American Ali Henderson finished
seventh in 2003.
