CAA ANNOUNCES EXTENSIVE BASKETBALL BROADCAST PACKAGE
2011-12 CAA Men's Basketball Broadcast Schedule
2011-12 CAA Women's Basketball Broadcast Schedule
ARLINGTON, Va. (October 18, 2011) - The Colonial Athletic
Association announced a comprehensive men's and women's broadcast package that
includes extensive coverage of the conference through television, internet and
mobile devices. The announcement was made during the conference's Media Day
festivities on Tuesday at Champps-Pentagon Row in Arlington, Va.
As
of press time, CAA teams are scheduled to receive more than 100 television
exposures through the various ESPN platforms and with long-time partners
Comcast SportsNet and The Comcast Network. CAA fans will also be provided with
internet broadcasts of hundreds of additional games, allowing the opportunity
to view CAA basketball almost daily via multiple mediums. Additional games will
be added to the television schedule prior to the start of the regular season.
"The commitment made by our great
television partners - Comcast SportsNet, The Comcast Network, CSS and ESPN -
allows CAA basketball to be showcased to millions of households on a weekly
basis," said CAA Commissioner Tom Yeager.
"Our member schools continue to enhance their internet and mobile broadcast
packages, giving fans the opportunity to watch every conference game."
The
syndicated package on the Comcast family of networks features 34 men's games on
the Comcast SportsNets (CSN Mid-Atlantic, CSN Philadelphia, CSN New England),
CSS and The Comcast Network, providing tremendous exposure in many of the
nation's largest media markets. The Comcast Network and CSS will once again
televise the quarterfinals and semifinals of the Virginia 529 CAA Men's
Basketball Championship.
"As
one of the nation's most competitive and successful basketball conferences, the
CAA provides a wealth of high-quality live sports programming for the Comcast
family of networks," said Mike Sheehey, senior vice president of sports content
for Comcast Sports Group. "We are proud of our longstanding partnership with
the CAA and look forward to delivering another great season of basketball to
our viewers."
The men's
basketball broadcast schedule features 43 exposures for CAA teams on the
various ESPN platforms, including up to four regular-season games and the CAA Championship
game on ESPN/ESPN2, 11 games on ESPNU and
12 games on ESPN3. That number will likely rise as all 12 CAA teams are
once again participating in Sears BracketBusters
on February 17-19, 2012, which has provided the conference with five nationally
televised contests in each of the past three years.
The
women's basketball composite television schedule includes 11 conference
contests, with several non-conference games expected to be added to the list. Eight
regular-season conference matchups as well as the Virginia 529 CAA Women's
Basketball Championship semifinals and championship game will air on The
Comcast Network, Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, Philadelphia and New England
and CSS.
