OLD DOMINION'S JAMES NICHOLSON NAMED CAA WRESTLER OF THE YEAR
LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. (April 5, 2011) - Old Dominion's James Nicholson was named CAA Wrestler of the Year and Hofstra's Tom Shifflet was selected CAA Coach of the Year in a vote by the league's coaches. Binghamton's John Paris was tabbed CAA Rookie of the Year.
CAA Champion Nicholson earned All-America honors at the NCAA Division I Championship, taking eighth in the 125-pound weight class.
Shifflett led Hofstra to the 2011 CAA Championship title and to a 26th-place finish at the NCAA Championship. Hofstra also came home with a pair of All-Americans.
Paris finished runner-up in the CAA Championship at 197 pounds and headlines the CAA All-Rookie Team, which includes Boston University's Bubba McGinley (125), Old Dominion's Eric Dunnett (133), Old Dominion's Scott Festejo (141), Hofstra's Zach Clemente (149), Riders' Ramon Santiago (157), Rider's Frank Miele (165), Old Dominion's Tristan Warner (174), Binghamton's Cody Reed (197) and Boston University's Kevin Innes (285).
