FOOTBALL PLAYERS HELP PAINT AND CLEAN HOUSE
ATLANTA (March 23, 2011) - On Saturday, March 19 some members of the GSU football
team went to work to help with another Atlanta community project. This Saturday
was just two days before the football team returned to the football fields for
spring practice in preparation for the April 14 Spring Game at the Georgia
Dome.
GSU's Grant King details his experience here. About 18 teammates and I met at a house in
southwest Atlanta. We worked with the HOMES Senior Citizen project staff for
four hours from 10am-2pm.
Our project involved painting the exterior of an elderly
woman's house and cleaning up her front yard. We mainly raked away leaves and
debris. We also painted all of her exterior wood as well as her
shed and all railings. This project helped to create a sense of team unity
through serving others in our community together.
This project is one of the many that GSU student-athletes
participate in over the school year as they combine to serve more than 4,500
hours of community service. To view a photo gallery of this event, please click here.
