PANTHER MEN'S BASKETBALL VOLUNTEERS AT AHA HEART WALK

ATLANTA (Nov. 1, 2010) - Continuing to be very active in the Atlanta
community, the Georgia State men's basketball team volunteered for the annual
American Heart Association Heart Walk held Saturday at Turner Field.
The men's basketball team, which has made it an annual
tradition to volunteer at the Heart Walk, was also joined by the Georgia State
cheerleaders and many others. The event begins at Turner Field, which is just
blocks from the Georgia State campus.
To begin the event, the Panther men's basketball team
helped lead the warm-up ceremonies, and then the team members, along with the
cheerleaders, cheered on the walkers at the start line.
The team also distributed information, greeted runners at
the finish line and interacted with children in the Kids Zone.
For the third straight year, the men's basketball team
will host an American Heart Association game on Saturday, Feb. 12 vs.
Northeastern.
The team will auction off red jerseys, with proceeds
going to the American Heart Association. Tip-off is set for noon, live on CSS.
The Panthers are well on their way to achieving the
department-wide goal of 4,500 community service hours during the 2010-11 year,
a goal established by Director of Athletics Cheryl L. Levick.
