GSU MEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM VOLUNTEERS FOR MS EVENT
ATLANTA (Sept. 15, 2010) - For the third straight year, the Georgia State men's
basketball time volunteered for the Bike MS: Cox Atlanta Ride 2010, a two-day
bike ride that serves as an annual fundraiser for the National MS
Society-Georgia Chapter.
The entire team and staff worked the event Sunday at
Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Ga. Team members cheered on riders at the
finish line, helped serve lunch and assisted the event organizers in setup and
breakdown.
More than 1,000 cyclists participated in the ride.
Proceeds from the event will help support various programs that aid the 8,500
Georgians with multiple sclerosis and their families in all 159 counties of
Georgia.
Georgia State student-athletes in all sports are commited
to making a difference and giving back. Director of Athletics Cheryl L. Levick
has established a department-wide goal of 4,500 hours of community service
during the 2010-11 year. Up next is the CAA Blood Challenge, Sept. 28 at the
Georgia State Sports Arena.
The Georgia State basketball team, coached by Rod Barnes,
opens the 2010-11 season Nov. 16 at McNeese State. Season tickets are on sale
