GEORGE MASON'S GOODE HEADLINES PRESEASON ALL-CAA VOLLEYBALL TEAM
RICHMOND,
Va. (August 26, 2010) - George Mason senior middle blocker Holly Goode has been
selected as the 2010 CAA preseason volleyball Player of the Year in a vote by
the league's head coaches. Joining Goode on the preseason All-CAA squad are
teammate Kelsey Bohman, Delaware's Jess Chason and Kim Stewart, Northeastern's
Britney Brown and William & Mary's Lindsay Kresch and Erin Skipper.
Goode, the
reigning CAA Player of the Year, finished the 2009 season ranked third in the
league in points per set (3.70) and kills per set (3.17) and was seventh in
hitting percentage (.282). The Virginia Beach, Va., native and First Team
All-CAA honoree helped lead the Patriots to their first conference title since
2003.
Bohman also
received a first team all-conference nod last season after recording a
team-high .293 hitting percentage and a league-best 1.38 blocks per set. The
junior middle blocker's blocks-per-set average ranked 16th in the nation last
season.
Chason, a
First Team All-CAA selection in 2009, tallied 1,142 assists and a league-leading
10.2 assists-per-set en route to being named conference Setter of the Year.
Chason's honor marked just the second time in program history that a Blue Hen
earned Setter of the Year distinction.
Stewart
returns to the Blue Hens after earning second team all-conference accolades a
year ago. The junior outside hitter finished sixth in the league with 326 kills
and 10th with a 2.88 kills-per-set average. Stewart also contributed
3.37 points per set during her standout sophomore campaign.
Brown, who
was named to the 2009 All-CAA second team, ranked sixth in the league in points
per set (3.46) and seventh in kills per set (3.01) this past season. The senior
setter's 301 kills were a team best in 2009.
Kresch
returns for her junior season after turning in 3.53 points per set and 2.97
kills per set a year ago, which ranked fourth and ninth in the CAA, respectively.
For her efforts, the outside hitter received second team all-conference honors
last season.
Skipper, a senior
outside hitter, finished last season ranked seventh with 3.45 points per set
and eighth with 2.97 kills per set. She also holds the school record in career
points (1,220) and points-per-set average (3.89).
