ODU'S HUYETT RECEIVES NATIONAL PLAYER/PITCHER OF THE WEEK HONORS
NORFOLK, VA -- Old Dominion junior C.J. Huyett received National Player of the Week honors from
Collegiate Baseball magazine and was chosen as the National Pitcher of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association after throwing a no-hitter last Tuesday against Maryland-Eastern Shore.
Huyett fired the 13th no-hitter in ODU history, and only the school's second nine inning no-hitter.The Monarchs defeated UMES 18-0 as the right-hander walked just one and struck out a career-high 11 batters.
Huyett shared CAA Pitcher of the Week honors on Monday with UNC Wilmington's Tyler McSwain, who tossed a two-hit shutout in the Seahawks' crucial 4-0 conference victory over William & Mary last Saturday.
Also honored by Collegiate Baseball were Jordan Cooper of Witchita State (RHP), Matt Bischoff of Purdue (RHP), along with Jeremy Baltz of St. John's (OF), Anthony Rendon of Rice (3b), Ben Thomas of Xavier (1b), and B.A. Vollmuth of Southern Mississippi (SS).
