OCTAGON?S, FLYCAST TO PROVIDE LIVE VIDEO, AUDIO FOR CAA WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Richmond, VA (March 11, 2010) - Octagon's newly formed Strategic Initiatives Division has today announced that it has developed a mobile platform in conjunction with FlyCast which will carry live video and audio coverage of the 2010 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Women's Basketball Championships.
All four opening round games (March 11) and four quarterfinal games (March 12) will feature full video and audio distribution while, due to contractual commitments, audio only will be provided for the CAA Semifinals (March 13) and Championship (March 14). James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA will host the entire CAA Championship. Specific match-ups and game times can be found at CAASports.com.
Octagon teamed with FlyCast to create this iPhone "CAA Tourney" application which is available at Apple's App store. This app allows fans to take part in the action like never before and was developed using FlyCast's appMobi platform.
"We are thrilled to have partnered with Octagon to break new ground in college athletics," said CAA Deputy Commissioner Ron Bertovich. "The CAA is committed to supporting our member institutions through the adoption of new and emerging technologies which working with Octagon has allowed us to embrace."
Housed in the agency's Athletes & Personalities Division, Octagon Strategic Initiatives was launched earlier this year to focus on emerging opportunities in the sports and entertainment landscape. The group's focus will include college sports, technology, education, and sustainability among other projects and be based out of Octagon's Richmond, VA office. Lead by industry veterans Giff Breed and Jeremy Aisenberg, this new division demonstrates Octagon's firm commitment to maintaining its position as the unquestioned sports and entertainment marketing leader.
"FlyCast is committed to delivering entertainment to mobile devices and we're very excited to partner with Octagon to offer this 'industry first' with the CAA," said FlyCast CEO David Kennedy. "The ability to live stream video and audio to hundreds of thousands of mobile listeners highlights the powerful technology we've built as we've grown FlyCast over the years. Expect to see more 'firsts' from FlyCast in the near future. "
