CAA PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Hillary Fratzke - Towson
R-Sr. - Midfielder (Centreville,
Md./Queen Anne's County)
Fratzke tallied eight goals and one
assist in the Tigers' two victories over UMBC and No. 11 Loyola. The redshirt-senior
midfielder scored three goals in Towson's 15-7 win over the Retrievers, while
matching her career high with five goals in the upset over the
nationally-ranked Greyhounds. She also contributed 14 draw controls and a
ground ball to lead the Tigers to a 2-0 start for the third-straight season.
The Centreville, Md., native has scored a goal in 50 consecutive games, the
fourth-longest streak in Division I history, while posting at least one point
in all 56 games in her career.
CAA ROOKIE OF THE WEEK:
Ashley Waldron - Towson
R-Fr. - Midfielder (Clay, N.Y./Cicero
North Syracuse)
Waldron recorded
a pair of hat tricks in the Tigers' two wins over UMBC and Loyola. Her six
goals came on 12 shots, and in both contests, she was credited with the game-winning
tally. The freshman midfielder also had two ground balls and converted her only
free position opportunity against the Retrievers. The Clay, N.Y., native ranks
among the top five freshmen in the nation with three goals per game this
season.

NOTES:
TWO CAA TEAMS
NATIONALLY RANKED: Towson and William & Mary were
ranked in the IWLCA/Under Armour Division I Coaches Poll released on March 8.
The Tigers jumped five spots to No. 12 with 136 points after their upset win at
Loyola last week, while the Tribe fall two places to No. 17 with 88 points.
Hofstra and James Madison also received votes.
The Tribe and
Tigers were also ranked in the Inside Lacrosse Women's Media Poll, released on
March 8. Towson comes in at No. 11, while William & Mary stands at No. 19.
Drexel, Hofstra, and James Madison also received votes in this poll.
TEWAARATON
PRE-SEASON WATCH LIST: Five CAA players were named to the
Women's 2010 Tewaaraton Award Watch List. Towson's Hillary Fratzke, Hofstra's
Corrine Gandolfi, William & Mary's Grace Golden, James Madison's Kim
Griffin, and Delaware's Emily Schaknowski were among the 52 Division I players
nominated for the prestigious award.
The Tewaaraton
Award was formally established in August of 2000 and is the pre-eminent
lacrosse award, which is given annually to the NCAA men's and women's lacrosse
player of the year. The award will be presented on June 3, 2010 at the
Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.
TEAM NOTES:
DELAWARE (1-2
overall, 0-0 in CAA): The Blue Hens split in their two
games last week, winning at Saint Joseph's (12-6), before falling at home to
Rutgers (11-12). Junior midfielder Ali Libertini tallied six goals in the two
games, while senior attacker Morgan Marino scored four goals. Libertini scored
four times against the Hawks and twice against the Scarlet Knights. She added
three draw controls and two assists on the week. Marino scored all four goals
in the win over the Hawks and had two draw controls in both contests. Delaware
hosts a pair of home games this week, beginning with #17 Loyola on
Tuesday, followed by a Saturday afternoon contest against fourteenth-ranked
Penn State.
DREXEL (6-1
overall, 0-0 in CAA): The Dragons went 2-0 last week with
wins over Long Island (18-4) and at Bucknell (13-11). Senior attacker Becca
Drylie-Perkins totaled six goals and four assists in Drexel's two wins. The
Medford, N.J., native scored a pair of goals and added three assists in the win
over LIU, before posting four goals and an assist at the Bucknell. She leads
the team with seven assists and ranks second with 19 points. Freshman
midfielder Kelli Joran came off the bench to complete the comeback win at
Bucknell. She gave the Dragons their first lead, 11-10, with an unassisted
goal, then recorded the game-winning assist on Katie Lawson's goal with just
over two minutes remaining in the game. Drexel plays once this week, with a
Sunday afternoon game at cross-town rival La Salle.
GEORGE MASON
(2-2 overall, 0-0 in CAA): The Patriots won in their only game
last week, a 9-7 decision against George Washington. Junior attacker Callie
Hoyt tallied four goals to spark the come-from-behind victory. Down 7-4 in the
second half, Hoyt scored three goals to tie the game at seven, allowing for
Mason to rally. Junior attacker Madalyn Jamison leads the Patriots with 19
points and 12 assists while sophomore midfielder Emily Ellison has tallied a
team-best 11 goals. George Mason hosts second-ranked Maryland on Tuesday
afternoon in the teams' first game at George Mason Stadium this season.
HOFSTRA (3-1
overall, 0-0 in CAA): The Pride defeated Cornell on the
road in the lone contest last week, 12-10. Senior midfielder Corrine Gandolfi
led Hofstra with three goals, while senior attacker Courtney O'Connor added a
pair of tallies and an assist. Senior midfielder K'Leigh Vanaman scored the
eventual game winner with just under nine minutes remaining in the game, to
lead Hofstra to its first win at Cornell in six years. Senior goalkeeper Mary
Cuddihy made nine saves for her second win of the season. The Pride hit the
road on Wednesday, when they face fourth-ranked Penn in Philadelphia and they
wrap up the week at home against #20 Rutgers on Saturday.
JAMES MADISON
(3-0 overall, 0-0 in CAA): James Madison improved to 3-0 with
a 10-4 victory at Yale on Saturday. Four different players scored two goals to
lead the balanced attack. Sophomore attacker Ariel Lane and sophomore
midfielder Annie Brophy led the team with three points on two goals and an
assist each. Kim Griffin and Mary Kate Lomady each tallied two goals as well.
The Dukes continue their stretch of five-straight road games, as they head to
Fairfield on Tuesday and finish the week at University of Richmond on Saturday.
OLD DOMINION
(0-1 overall, 0-0 in CAA): The Lady Monarchs dropped their
season opener 10-12 last Friday at American. Senior attackers Ashley Kellogg
and Nicole McMahan each tallied hat tricks to lead the ODU offense.
Redshirt-sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Geary posted a game-high 12 saves in the
loss. The Lady Monarchs play their home opener Wednesday afternoon when they
entertain in-state foe Richmond.
No. 12 TOWSON
(2-0 overall, 0-0 in CAA): Twelfth-ranked Towson opened the
season with a pair of victories over UMBC (15-7) and at eleventh-ranked Loyola
(14-10). Redshirt-senior midfielder Hillary Fratzke tallied eight goals and one
assist in the Tigers' two victories over UMBC and No. 11 Loyola. She scored
three goals in Towson's 15-7 win over the Retrievers, while matching her career
high with five goals in the upset over the nationally-ranked Greyhounds.

No. 18 WILLIAM &
MARY (2-2 overall, 0-0 in CAA): The 18th-ranked Tribe went 0-1 last week ith a
road loss at #12 Boston University, 10-15. Junior midfielder Grace Golden led
the Tribe attack with two goals and seven ground balls, while causing a
career-high five turnovers. Her five caused turnovers is tied for the second
most in a single game in program history and seven ground balls matched her
career best. Senior midfielder Mary Zulty recorded her third hat trick of the
season against BU. Freshman attacker Kyrstin Mackrides scored one goal and
added two draw controls against the Terriers. W&M heads to Annapolis, Md.,
to face Navy on Wednesday afternoon.
