FIVE CAA WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYERS ON HERMANN TROPHY WATCH LIST
RICHMOND, Va. (August 19, 2008) ? Five CAA women’s soccer players are among a group of 47 who have been placed on the 2008 Watch List for the Hermann Trophy, which is awarded annually to the top Division I soccer player in the nation.
Making the Hermann Trophy Watch List from the CAA are William & Mary senior midfielder Dani Collins, James Madison senior midfielder Kim Germain, Hofstra senior midfielder Edel Malone, James Madison sophomore forward Cate Tisinger and William & Mary senior forward Claire Zimmeck.
Collins tallied four goals and two assists for the Tribe last season and earned 3rd team NSCAA All-America and 1st team All-CAA honors. Germain was also a 3rd team All-America and 1st team All-CAA honoree after contributing four goals and two assists for the Dukes in 2007.
Malone, who recorded eight goals and four assists last season, was a member of the All-CAA first team in 2005 and 2007. Tisinger was selected as the CAA Rookie of the Year and received 1st team All-CAA accolades after posting nine goals and 10 assists as a freshman.
Zimmeck has earned CAA Player of the Year and All-America honors for the past two seasons. She topped the CAA with 17 goals in 2007 and was a semifinalist for the Hermann Trophy.
The Hermann Trophy is considered the highest individual honor in intercollegiate soccer. The Watch List will be trimmed to 15 semifinalists by a committee of coaches in November. Three finalists will be selected in December and the winner will be announced on January 9, 2009.
