George Mason senior forward Kwame Adjeman-Pamboe and James Madison senior midfielder Nick Zimmerman were selected in the 2009 Major League Soccer Superdraft on Thursday. Adjeman-Pamboe was chosen in the second round (28th overall) pick by the Colorado Rapids, while Zimmerman was picked in the third round (44th overall) by the New York Red Bulls.

Adjeman-Pamboe becomes the seventh player in Mason history to be selected in the MLS draft and the first since Anthony Noreiga was selected by the Kansas City Wizards in 2006. He earned First-Team All-CAA honors during his senior season after leading George Mason and ranking among the top-10 in the CAA in goals (9), assists (7) and points (25). The Bowie, Md. native was instrumental in helping the Patriots’ capture their first CAA Championship since the 1989 season. He was named the Most Outstanding Performer at the CAA Men’s Soccer Championship after contributing four goals and an assist in three Patriot wins at the event.

“We are very proud and happy for Kwame,” said George Mason head coach Greg Andrulis. “He is not only a terrific player but more importantly he is a great person. The Mason soccer family is grateful for his contributions on and off the field, including helping us win the CAA Championship this season. We wish him the very best in this next step of his career.”

Zimmerman was a 2008 NSCAA All-South-Atlantic Region third team selection and a two-time All-CAA honoree.  The four-year starter led JMU in goals (6), assists (5) and points (17) in 2008. He is the second JMU player to be drafted.  In 2007 midfielder Kurt Morsink was selected by the Kansas City Wizards in the fourth round.  Morsink, who was picked 42nd overall, has played for the Wizards the past two seasons.
