No. 3 seed James Madison went on a 17-0 run in the opening
half and stymied a late Huskies rally down the stretch for a 70-57 win over
top-seeded Northeastern and the program's first CAA Men's Basketball
Championship title in nearly two decades on Monday night at the Richmond
Coliseum.
Senior A.J. Davis was named the championship's Most
Outstanding Player after scoring a game-high 26 points to go with seven
rebounds in tonight's title game. Fellow senior Rayshawn Goins turned in a
double-double with 14 points and 13 boards, while classmate Devon Moore added
nine points and five assists in the win. Both players joined Davis on the
All-Tournament team.
The Huskies were led by senior Jonathan Lee, who played
inspired basketball in the second half to finish with 14 points and earn a spot
on the All-Tournament team. Sophomore Marco Banegas-Flores and rookie David
Walker also reached double figures, adding 10 points apiece in the losing
effort.
